I started my first camp job 24 hours after my high school graduation, as the Assistant Waterfront Director at the camp I grew up attending. Between then and my next job in camping I attended Goshen College, was a bank officer, radio DJ, and a recording engineer just to name a few! I chose camping and the YMCA because it allows me to minister to the widest range of children and families. I worked for the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America as Base Director as well as Associate Director of Maine National High Adventure. From that point, I have worked for the YMCA since 1991 - with two years off to help start a private camp in Texas called Camp Coyote. I have been a national faculty member for the YMCA of the USA in Day Camping, a private consultant for various camps, and on the boards of the local Salvation Army, Community Centers and environmental groups. I came to Camp Crosley YMCA in 1997. My hobbies include outdoor photography, international travel, hiking and camping. My favorite places to visit include England, Scotland and New Zealand. I am on the Board of Advisors of the American Institute of Foreign Studies which is the sponsor of the Camp America program. I am from Central Illinois but consider the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee home now.
I have been in camping for 17+ years. I started off as a camper, worked my way through a leader-in-training program and eventually became a staff member. I love camp and all that it has to offer, both to children, families, and staff. It's amazing the transformation a child can have at camp, I do not know where I would be now had it not been for my camp experience. Coming to Camp Crosley YMCA was definitely a God thing, and cannot all be explained, but I am so blessed to be here!
